Kate Gosselin's Show 'Kate Plus 8' Cancelled
Kate Gosselin shows off her trim figure as she leaves the NBC Today Show. (Bauer Griffin)more pics » Kate Gosselin (Bauer Griffin) Kate Gosselin became TV's most (in)famous mom when Jon & Kate Plus 8 aired in April of 2007 and quickly grew into one of TLC's highest-rated programs. When the parents of eight split, the series was revamped to Kate Plus 8, and now Gosselin's single-mom series is over, the network confirmed to People.
"TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8," a network rep told the magazine. "By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark; an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."
Just last week, Gosselin denied rumors the show had run its course. "Nobody has told me [about being cancelled]. We’re happy to continue on and will do so as long as people are watching," she told Ann Curry on the Today show.
While Jon & Kate Plus 8 averaged 3.3 million viewers per episode, Kate Plus 8 didn't garner such impressive numbers. Ratings dipped to about 1 million nightly viewers this season. Last year, TLC announced Gosselin would star in a new series, Twist of Kate, where she'd visit mothers around the world. The show, originally scheduled to premiere in 2010, does not appear in TLC's fall 2011 line-up. Perhaps the multi-tasking mom is facing an unfortunate twist of fate.
